Description

This is a timeless classic. It is called Penny Loafer and it owes its name to the American students who used to insert a coin in the saddle, that is, the opening obtained in the strip of leather dressing the inlet. The moccasins were designed by the indigenous peoples of the Americas as they used to wrap their feet up with a single remnant of leather, which usually was soft and very hard-wearing, in which they insert a very flexible insole afterwards. Fred Astaire was the first spokesperson of this shoe design as he matched it with the tailcoat, a man’s formalwear, for tap dancing and so making his performances true works of art. Its success was instant and this style started being a hit among the students, quickly becoming one of the favourite fashions of leisure wear.

1 - LEATHER

Totally waterproof suede.

2 - COSTRUZIONE EASY-ON

Laceless for an easy fit.

The Capri shoe is the quintessence of elegance and its multifaceted character makes this design adjust harmoniously to a more dandy-ish style. This design is also called “easy-on” since it has no fastening. It is made of suede, also called velours, which is softer and more flexible than standard full-grain leather (“pieno fiore”), and fully waterproof. The small tongue and the saddle, which is put as the reinforcement of the opening, make the shoe fitting easy; whereas, being laceless, this shoe is perfect for informal occasions.

Capri is available in two colour variants: Peach Sirena and Peach Tabacco.

Each creation keeps the promise our artisans made: make the company innovative fully paying its respect to the Italian shoemaking tradition. The history of Mille885 is an Italian story: it is authentic, a narrative to be told.
