Description

College is a handcrafted product enriched with artisan touches such as the precision of the serrated mask, the details on the heel counter, and the hand-made side stitches. The craftsmanship is also evident in the Blake construction, a shoe-making technique in which a single stitch joins the sole, lining, upper, and insole previously temporarily assembled by the artisan. This handcrafted stitch, which is done after the last is removed, is performed with a machine invented by the American technician Blake.

This College Binder model, available in ebony and black color variants, is made with polished leather with a brushed finish to obtain a smooth, soft, and grain-free upper surface. The topline, or the shoe collar, allows for easy fitting and perfect adherence to the foot.

Each creation keeps the promise made by our craftsmen: to innovate the company while fully respecting the Italian shoemaking tradition. The story of Mille885 is an authentic Italian story, made to be told.

1 - HANDMADE STITCHING

The side stitches of this shoe are hand-made.

2 - SERRATED MASK

One of the details of this handcrafted product is the serrated mask.

3 - BLAKE CONSTRUCTION

A single stitch joins the sole, lining, upper, and insole previously temporarily assembled by the artisan.

4 - TOPLINE

Perfect adherence to the foot thanks to the shoe collar.

Loafers were created by Native Americans who wrapped their feet with a single piece of leather, usually soft and very durable, into which a very flexible sole was later inserted. This Mille885 College model is a classic, called the Penny Loafer, named after the habit of American students inserting a penny into the strap, which is the opening in the strip of leather that wraps around the instep. Fred Astaire was the first endorser of this shoe model because he wore it with a tailcoat, a very formal men's suit, to dance tap, making his performances true forms of art. The success was immediate, and this model began to be popular among students, quickly becoming one of the preferred looks for leisure time.
