The feature that distinguishes this model, called Oxford, and differentiates it from the Derby model is the overlap between the quarter and the vamp: the quarter, which is the rear part of the upper that closes over the instep where the lacing is located, is sewn under the vamp, the front part of the upper. The shoe thus has a closed lacing because the eyelet tabs touch and the tongue only emerges at the top of the shoe. The result is a shoe with a thin, classic, and formal structure, ideal for pairing with tailored suits, morning coats, or pinstripes.

4 - BLAKE CONSTRUCTION
A single stitch holds together the sole, lining, upper, and insole, previously temporarily assembled by the craftsman.
The Firenze oxford is made with hand-decolorized calf leather, enhancing its artisanal finish and achieving a soft, smooth, and grain-free upper surface. The genuine leather sole, a precious and versatile material renowned for its thermal insulation and wear resistance properties, becomes the ideal raw material for the construction of this Mille885 artifact. The craftsmanship is also evident in the Blake construction, a technique for making shoes in which a single stitch holds together the sole, lining, upper, and insole, previously temporarily assembled by the craftsman. This artisanal stitching, performed after the last is removed, is done using a machine invented by the American technician Blake.
Each creation keeps the promise made by our craftsmen: to innovate the company while fully respecting the Italian shoemaking tradition. The story of Mille885 is an authentic Italian story, made to be told.
