The history of this shoe, which became famous thanks to the four legends from Liverpool, is rich in anecdotes: in the very early Sixties, from a simple shoe it became a distinctive element for certain cultures and youth groups, particularly the youth subculture called MODS, an abbreviation of modernists, a term initially coined to define lovers of modern jazz. The MODS were rebellious young Englishmen, due to the difficult conditions in which they had grown up, with a great passion for aestheticism. Over the years, they adopted a sober, minimal, and highly elegant style of dressing down to the last detail, inspired by the Ivy League look, that is, the way of dressing born on the campuses of the most prestigious American universities. Their motto was “Adopt, Adapt, Improve” because they were inspired by the fashions proposed by European pop culture without losing originality, minimalism, and functionality.
1 - EASY-ON CONSTRUCTION
The absence of laces and the elastic side band facilitate putting the shoes on and taking them off.
2 - LEATHER
Black calf leather.
The iconic Lione ankle boot, made with black calf leather that enhances its artisan finish, reached the peak of its success in October 1961 when Paul McCartney and John Lennon fell in love with Chelsea Boots and bought four pairs for the Beatles, with heels added, at a shop on Charing Cross Road in London. This model, which became an icon thanks to the four legends from Liverpool, is extremely versatile, comfortable, and easy to slip on and off thanks to the elastic side band called “easy-on”.
