The history of this shoe, made famous by the four legends from Liverpool, is rich in anecdotes: in the early Sixties, it went from being a simple shoe to a distinctive element for certain cultures and youth groups, particularly the youth subculture called MODS, an abbreviation of modernists, a term initially coined to define lovers of modern jazz. The MODS were rebellious young Englishmen, due to the difficult conditions they had grown up in, with a great passion for aestheticism. Over the years, they adopted a sober, minimal, and highly elegant style of dressing down to the last detail, inspired by the Ivy League look, that is, the way of dressing born on the campuses of the most prestigious American universities. Their motto was “Adopt, Adapt, Improve” because they were inspired by the fashions proposed by European pop culture without losing originality, minimalism, and functionality.
1 - EASY-ON CONSTRUCTION
The absence of laces and the elastic side band facilitate putting the shoes on and taking them off.
2 - LEATHER
Completely waterproof suede leather.
The iconic Lione ankle boot is made of suede leather, also known as suede or velours, softer and more flexible than standard “full-grain” leather and completely waterproof. This model, extremely versatile, comfortable, and easy to put on and take off thanks to the elastic side band called “easy-on”, reached the peak of its success in October 1961 when Paul McCartney and John Lennon fell in love with Chelsea Boots and bought four pairs for the Beatles, with the addition of heels, in a shop on Charing Cross Road in London.
Each creation keeps the promise made by our craftsmen: to innovate the company while fully respecting the Italian shoemaking tradition. The story of Mille885 is an authentic Italian story, made to be told.
